Steven Rinella - Why You Should Eat More Bear

This is a fine article, and we need more like it, especially in the LA Times.  Our voices aren't heard enough, and if no one hears us, then we really don't exist on the public's radar.  We'll be launching a new tool very soon that will make outreach to the media much easier, but for now, give this a read, and then send the LA Times a thank-you or submit your own story to them by emailing them here

To help you out with this simple and easy task, here's a short letter and example submitted by one of our own - Mike Costello:

"BRAVO!!! Thank you for allowing a well-researched, balanced perspective regarding hunting and the HARVEST of black bear in California. Hunters love bears :) We love them alive, we love seeing cubs with mama bears. And yes... it is possible to both love these critters, and pursue, hunt, harvest and enjoy the amazing sustainable resources they provide. Bear meat is fantastic, nutritious and sustainable. Rendered bear fat is AMAZING to cooking with. Finally... an authentic bear skin rug or bear-claw necklace will last for generations and the bear can be honored, while the hunt is just a memory.

Bear hunting is historically, ecologically and economically appropriate and sustainable.

KUDOS to the LA TIMES for supporting this opinion piece from Steven Rinella.

Thank you!"
