HSUS is bringing their anti-hunting rhetoric and agenda to California once again. Petition 2021-027 will formally be received, discussed and next steps decided during this meeting. Their petition calls for a suspension of black bear hunting until new/updated science and data is available. While the hunting community will always side with data, science and informed conservation decisions, HSUS's disregard and disrespect for the CDFW assessment of the bear population in CA is NOT cause for change in seasons, zones or quota.  Harvest data being used to generate population estimates is a common and trusted method throughout professional wildlife mgmt. and conservation agencies. Harvest data along with known and measurable disruptions to the bear hunt, and established population modeling tell us that black bears are abundant, thriving, expanding their range and healthy in California. 

HOWL WITH CALIFORNIA! IF HSUS CAN MANIPULATE DATA AND EMOTIONS TO END BEAR HUNTING IN CALIFORNIA VIA COMMISSION, THEN ANY HUNT IN ANY STATE COULD BE NEXT.
