Ensure Balanced Leadership for the Washington Fish & Wildlife Commission

Three WDFW commission seats will be filled soon, giving the incoming governor an opportunity to shape the future of Washington’s fish and wildlife management. We urge the reappointment of Commissioners Molly Linville and James Anderson, who have consistently exemplified balanced decision-making, championed conservation, and relied on both science and department staff expertise. Their continued leadership will bring valuable continuity, maintain much-needed balance, and help guide effective policies on pressing fish and wildlife issues.

Additionally, we call on the governor to appoint a dedicated hunting representative to the Commission. While scientists, preservationists, ranching, tribal, and fishing interests are present, the hunting community—a major contributor to conservation and one of the most affected constituencies—remains unrepresented. A hunting voice is critical to achieving equitable decision-making and ensuring that all stakeholders have a seat at the table.

By reappointing Linville and Anderson and adding a dedicated hunting representative, the governor can help create a more balanced, diverse Commission that reflects the needs of Washington’s wildlife, habitats, and the broad range of citizens who value and support these resources.

TAKE ACTION BELOW TO REACH THE APPROPRIATE DECISION-MAKERS: Gov. Elect Ferguson and more!
